The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Secrets of Skyrim – How To Get A Free House/Decorations

A simple guide on how to get a free house with all of the decorations/upgrades.

1. Become the Thane of a town/city.
2. Have enough money to buy the house you are trying to get for free.
3. Wait for the Steward to be around a container of some sort (chest, dresser, table, basically anything that you can search through).
4. Talk to the Steward and agree to buy the house/decoration.
5. As soon as you hit the button to buy it, back out and put all of your money into the aforementioned container.
6. Wait for the Steward to stop talking.
7. Retrieve your money from the container.

The trick with decorating your first home in Whiterun is you have to wait up to a day after buying it and you can only meet the NPC in the throne room.
