Occupy Detroit marches to the Bank of America office downtown to deliver a message demanding a moratorium on foreclosures in Michigan which was hit hard in the financial collapse. If they fail to respond, we plan a larger demonstration at noon on Friday, October 21st.

247 West Goldengate is an excellent example of what has happened to the neighborhood to the East of it. Neighbors say the house has been vacant for years as the bank tries to recoup its investment. Meanwhile, scrappers have broken in to take anything of value.

That starts with the copper plumbing. The Corner House is a duplex and had both kitchen sinks, a bathroom sink and a bathtub removed. However, there is still another bath sink, commode and tub that are still relatively intact and best of all, the electrical system and duct work haven’t been pulled up yet.

The Goldengate Restoration Project went to work immediately and put up the side door that had been kicked in, boarded up the kitchen window before it is broken and pad locked the front door.
